Orientation - Jinjiang College

The first two weeks of my time in China consisted of an orientation for the teachers that were a part of the Colorado China Council.  Tim Lewis led the orientation and prepared us for our year of teaching.  It really was an extremely valuable experience.  With Tim's instruction, I now feel confident that I can lead a classroom full of Chinese students.

The orientation provided us with real classroom experience.  A group of 25 students, mostly girls, came to our two week program.  They seemed very excited to be able to practice their English with us and really enjoyed our lessons.  We definitely had a lot of fun with the students.

Here are some pictures:

Some of the students in the class decided that it was time for me to have a Chinese name.  They came up with this name here.  Jiang is a very ancient name in China and is the family, or last, name.  My personal name Le Yu means happy fish.  It is very fitting, I think.
